Works are staring - Gazprom Neft funds mosaic at the Saint Sava's Temple with EUR 4 m

Preparatory works have started at the Temple of Saint Sava within the project of making mosaics on the inner surface of the main dome. Gazprom Neft is funding the project. In the gallery, under the dome of the temple, special steel platform weighing 36 tons was set, while the height of the structure is 43 meters.

Temple of Saint Sava is the most important architectural monument in Serbia and one of the largest Orthodox temples in the world. It was built on the site where in 1594 the Ottomans burned the relics of Saint Sava.

Gazprom Neft is financing the project of mosaic for interior decoration of the temple within the implementation of a comprehensive support program to projects in the field of culture and preservation of historical heritage of Serbia.

Total financing scope will total four million euros. On the surface of the dome of more than 1,000 square meters , a mosaic-like composition of colored and gold pieces of specially processed glass and natural stone will be made.
