Russians double transit for foreign trucks

Russian authorities have doubled taxes for foreign trucks passing through the country ,it was announced at the website of the Government of Russia.

Taxes, as stated, increased from 60,000 to 120,000 rubles ( 1,600 euros) per year.

Price of a one-day passage through Russian territory increased more than double , from 250 to 850 rubles (11.3 euros), and price increase refers to trucks with total weight of 3.5 to 12 tons.

As stated, the measure was introduced because of their former price was based on the exchange rate of the ruble in 2007 while today value of the Russian currency is double less the amount.

Apart from that, the list was expanded to foreign countries obliged to pay charges for passing through the territory of Russia, including new countries - Latvia and Lithuania.

It was added that these countries are listed as counter- measure to the moves of the Baltics countries.
