"Heineken" bought "MB" brewer

Multinational company "Heineken" announced that it had bought Serbian brewery "Rodić MB" in Novi Sad, but the value of that deal has not been revealed.

The purchase will be completed after necessary licenses are issued. After that, according to the estimate of President of "Heineken" for central and east Europe, Nico Nusmeier, "Heineken" will become the third largest brewer in Serbia.

- Purchase of brewer "Rodić MB" will additionally contribute to the leading position of "Heineken" on the growing market of central and east Europe - Nusmeier added.


Brewer "Rodić MB" was founded in 2003, it has capacity of 1.5m hectoliters and it employs 282 people. It is the owner of brands "MB premium", "MB pills" and "Master", and the projection of the sales in 2007 amounts to 500,000 hectoliters of beer.

The capital of the Novi Sad brewer, according to the data provided by the Business Registry Agency, has been estimated to 11.5 billion RSD (about 145m EUR), business incomes in 2006 amounted to 1.5 billion RSD (about 18.5m EUR) and the profit was 6.5m RSD.

"Heineken" group is the owner of more than 115 breweries in over 65 countries. Total volume of sales in that group is 132m hectoliters, which makes it the fourth largest manufacturer of beer in the world.

In 2006, it had income in amount of 12 billion EUR, while the net profit amounted to 930m EUR.
