Preparations for construction of Horgoš-Požega highway commenced

Minister of Infrastructure of Serbia, Velimir Ilić, said that the preparation works for commencement of construction of Horgoš-Požega highway had started on December 4, 2007, and that the construction would last for four years.

Together with the representatives of concessionaires - Spanish FCC and Austrian companies 'Alpine' and PORR, Ilić visited the route of the future highway and said on that occasion that the concessionaires submitted all required banking guarantees and added that one of the main financiers would be Deutche bank, of which representative also visited the highway route.

- Preparation works include expropriation of parcels along the highway route. More than 2,500 decision have already been prepared and the owners of these parcels should be paid soon. Exceptionally high subterranean waters make commencement of works difficult, so that we will have to wait for the level of water to be lower - Ilić pointed out.

He specifed that the base for construction of part of highway between Novi Sad and Horgoš would be situated near Bačka Topola, which would also be the place for official beginning of works towards north and towards south.
