EPS Distribucija obtains building permit for substation at Autokomanda - Works valued at RSD 1.13 billion (PHOTO)

EPS Distribucija has obtained a building permit for substation at Autokomanda, in which about RSD 1.13 billion will be invested, it was announced in Energija magazine.
The Ministry of Construction, Transportation and Infrastructure has issued a building permit for the 110/10kV substation "Beograd 23 - Autokomanda" with the accompanying office space. Construction of this substation at Autokomanda is envisaged in the Comprehensive Land-Use Plan for the central zone of the Vozdovac borough.
That zone has been experiencing problems with power supply for years. There is highway in the vicinity, which poses a physical barrier to many easier solutions. The estimated value of the works on this new substation is approximately RSD 1.13 billion.
– This is an attractive city location because it features a large number of important facilities, embassies and residential buildings, the two largest football stadiums in the country, the Prokop railway station, etc. - said MA Nebojsa Radovanovic, the director of the Sector for Planning and Investment within EPS Distribucija. Construction of the new substation is also important because a large shopping center will soon be erected in that location, and it will also indirectly provide additional energy security for the construction of the Belgrade Waterfront complex.
– It should be underlined that when looking for a location for one such substation in the very center of the city, it is always a problem to find something as cost-efficient as possible, that is, construction projects in such cases usually require prior demolition of old low-rise buildings, and even this factor sometimes impedes efficient implementation - says Radovanovic.
End to waiting
Construction of the substation at Autokomanda is included in all plans for the development of power distribution system in the past thirty years. A reason why it was not built before, although the need exists since a long time ago, could lie in the fact that its location was changed in every new plan.
