20 billion EUR for Sustainable Development Strategy within next 10 years

Within next 10 years, 20 billion EUR will be spent on preparation of Sustainable Development Strategy, which is one of the conditions for admission of Serbia into EU. Professor at FAculty of Agriculture in Belgrade, Radmilo Pešić, said that about 6 billion EUR would be set aside for the resolving of that environment protection problem through application of that document in Serbia in the same period.
Designing of Sustainable DEvelopment Strategy was approved by the Government of Serbia in 2005, and that document represents the relation between ecology and economy, which enables economic and social development with preservation of nature.
The designing of the document was initiated by the Ambassador of Sweden to Serbia in 2005 and total of 650,000 EUR has been invested in it to the date. The term of sustainable development is defined as the development that satisfies the needs of the humankind.
The councilor of the Deputy Prime Minister, Zoran Cvijanović, explained that the Sustainable Development Strategy was the agreement between the citizens and the state. He added that 2.5 benches are broken every day in Belgrade and that such document is necessary to "remind us of patriotism".
