Chinese are the only interested party in Zelezara - Contract signing expected in April

Only the Chinese showed an interest in the public call for privatization of Zelezara Smederevo which is still open, the Minister of Economy, Zeljko Sertic, who expects that, if all goes according to plan, the contract on the privatization of the Zelezara Smederevo will be signed in April, said on Tuesday, March 22, 2016.

- We made a deal with Chinese, it was published and it is not a secret. On the other hand, we also had responsibilities when it comes to international conventions and rules that the call for privatization is public, and we published that call so all interested parties can apply- Sertic said to reporters.

He said that, as for now, apart from the Chinese HBIS, there is no other interested companies but he also pointed out that it was not final so the number of interested will be known when deadline expires – Sertic said for reporters.

The Minister outlined that signing of this contract would be a major incentive Serbian steel plant development.
