Austrian "VA Tech Hydro" to revitalize Hydroelectric Power Plant "Bajina Bašta" - contract worth 65.6m EUR


Electric Power Company of Serbia announced that the contract on revitalizaation of hydroelectric power plant "Bajina Bašta", worth more than 65.6m EUR, would be signed on November 21, 2007. In that way, the life of that hydroelectric power plant will be prolonged for another 40 years.
The contract will be signed by the representatives of EPS and Business organization "Drinsko -
Limske hidroelektrane" with Austrian company "VA Tech Hydro GmbH".
Of total value of the contract, 30m EUR will be provided from the loan of German KfW bank, while 35.6m will be provided by EPS and "Drinsko - Limske
HE" from the incomes from sale of electric power.
Revitalization, which should be completed prior to year 2012, includes replacement and overhaul of almost entire equipment on all four generators of Hydroelectric Power Plant "Bajina Bašta", as well as increase in power of the plant.
In that way, that power plant, which celebrates 41th anniversary of existence on November 23, 2007, will be stronger by another 50 MW and its strength will amount to 420 MW.
Each generator will have 105 MW instead of current 92.8.
