BERG: EBRD to support privatization in Serbia

(Daniel Berg)The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development ( EBRD) is ready to continue to support privatization and commercialization of public enterprises in Serbia, head of EBRD in Serbia, Daniel Berg said.

He estimated that Serbia in recent years has stabilized its economy and that implementation of the program with the International Monetary Fund ( IMF) supported by structural reforms , has been giving result.

As he pointed out, Serbia should continue to rationalize public sector spending, reduce high level of non-performing loans and continue with the reforms that can support private sector growth.

EBRD, Berg reminded pointed out that fiscal consolidation in Serbia, supported by structural measures, has been giving results but that there has still been for some risks in terms of fiscal sustainability.
