At the presentation of new edition of Macroeconomic Analysis and Trends (MAT), an economist, Stojan Stamenkovic, said that total industrial production in January was 8.3% higher, observed in inter0annual terms, and the biggest impact was an increase in energy production and mining.
Processing industry in January also recorded a inter-annual growth in production which totaled 2.1% and is higher than in December 2015.
Until September 2015, food industry was featured with stable production and in September it crashed i.e. there was a sharp decline in inter-annual comparison.
Another critical area is production of basic metals, Stamenkovic said, outlining that, as for Smederevo-based Zelezara is concerned, program of Chinese customer is awaited, and in the meantime production scope in the field of basic metals was again reduced.
The third critical field is production of motor vehicles, i.e. Fiat in Kragujevac, one of the editors of MAT said. Stamenkovic added that production of "Fiat" cannot remain at the level from 2013, it cannot be based on production of one model and that the plant needs a new model.
