Serbia registers 9.1% growth of exports in January 2016 - Most goods exported to Russia

Serbia's foreign trade in January 2016 totaled EUR 1.923 billion, up 5% from the same month in 2015, while exports grew 9.1% and foreign trade deficit dropped 18.1%, the Republic Statistical Office announced Tuesday.

Serbia's exports in January 2016 totaled EUR 849 million, up 9.1% from January 2015, while imports grew 2% from the year before, to EUR 1.074 billion.

The country's foreign trade deficit was at EUR 225.6 million, down 18.1% from January 2015.

The export-import coverage ratio reached 79%, rising from 73.5% in January 2015.

Expressed in US dollars, Serbia's foreign trade in January 2016 totaled EUR 2.092 billion, down 2.2% from the previous year.

When it comes to exports, main foreign trade partners were Italy (USD 158.7 million), Germany (USD 132.6 million), Bosnia-Herzegovina (USD 68.8 million), Russian Federation (USD 51.2 million), and Romania (USD 34.2 million).

On the other hand, Serbia exported the most goods to the Russian Federation (USD 145.8 million), Germany (USD 129.2 million), Italy (USD 115.1 million), China (USD 112.7 million) and Poland (USD 50.8 million).
