ORBOVIC: Minimal labor price should total RSD 140

Chairman of the Independent Trade Union of Serbia Ljubisav Orbović estimated that it is essential that minimum wage is RSD 140. Since "technical government" cannot decide on it now, he expressed hope that new Serbian government will have understanding for requirements of workers.

- In September last year, we talked about minimum price and did not find a common solution with employers and the government then decided that the price remains the same – Orbovic reminded.

He pointed out that at the last session of the Social and Economic Council (SEC) the Independent Trade Union and UGS Nezavisnost required wages is RSD 140 per hour.

-All indicators show minimum wage should total that much. Unfortunately, in the meantime, special elections were announced and it will not be solved as long as the technical government is not set up- Orbovic said and added that after formation of the new cabinet, it will be a top issue again.

- We can talk about whether some wages should be increased or no but when it comes to minimum wage, it is clear it is very difficult to survive and therefore there must be an increase - union leader said.

Orbovic said he hopes new government will have understanding and said that the Social and Economic Council, i.e. government representatives who were at the meeting, supported the proposal of two unions.
