Auction sale of lead, zinc, gold and silver mine "Lece" by the end of year 2007

Auction sale of lead, zinc, gold and silver mine "Lece", in the namesake town in the south of Serbia, is expected by the end of the year.

Interest in this famous mine, of which revitalization and starting of production are great hope for usually passive Municipality of Medveđa, has been expressed by potential buyers from Japan, USA, Austrialia and some other countries.

"Lece" mine, after leaving mining-metallurgy system "Trepča" in Kosovska Mitrovicia, is out of work for years.

Only a small number of employees work on its maintenance, while the inherited multimillion losses are piling up.

According to the estimates of experts, there are metalliferrous fields in the broader area of the mine and they are rich with lead-zinc ore and precious metal ore.
