Summer to see finalization of sale of Zelezara to Chinese - EU support needed for contract completion

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic has said today that he expects negotiations with the Chinese company HBIS on saleof Zelezara Smederevo to end successfully and that the process could end by the beginning of the summer. Vucic said to reporters at a press conference in Kopaonik that it is expected that the President of China Xi Jinping arrives to Serbia when sale of Zelezara would be finalized.

When asked whether Serbia will get the support of the European Union for the sale of Zelezara, Vucic said he hopes that EU will support the transaction which according to the European rules must not involve governmental support to the factory in Smederevo
