Local elections called for April 24th - Parliamentary and provincial elections on the same day

Serbian Parliament Speaker Maja Gojkovic today at 12 noon called local elections for April 24th.

- I am calling elections for the aldermen of cities and municipalities for April 24th, when parliamentary and provincial elections too will take place - said Gojkovic.

As she noted, local elections won't be held in 14 local self-governments in which the term for authorities have not expired yet, that is, the decision to call elections does not apply to the municipalities in which early local elections were held in the period between 2013 and 2015: Belgrade, Zajecar, Arandjelovac, Bor, Vrbas, Kovin, Kosjeric, Lucani, Majdanpek, Medvedja, Mionica, Negotin, Odzaci and Pecinci.

On that occasion, the parliament speaker also invited citizens to exercise their right to vote and wished them a positive campaign.

The previous local elections were held on May 6th, 2012.
