Serbian Construction, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Zorana Mihajlovic spoke on Monday (22 February 2016) in London with European Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc about the possibilities and importance of regional transport connectivity.

The Office of Minister Mihajlovic announced that she and Violeta Bulc met on the margins of the Western Balkans Investment Summit organized by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London, which brought together the prime ministers of all Western Balkan countries, ministers and leading businessmen.

The two of them assessed at the meeting that one of the priority infrastructure projects for the Western Balkans was the construction of Nis-Merdаre-Pristinа-Tirаnа-Drаc highway. For Serbia, the significance of this highway does not lie merely in connecting Nis with Pristina, but also in its function as the main connection with Corridor IV, most of which stretches across Bulgaria and Romania, as well as with Corridor X and the Sаrаjevo-Podgoricа Vlorа route.

- This highway is of exceptional importance for the region. One lane of the Nis-Pristina highway in each direction will be completed by 2023 - Mihajlovic said after the meeting.
