When and where was the first selfie taken?

Cell phone cameras, the quality of which is constantly growing, have become almost the only device we use to record memories. In case you didn't know, the history of photography stretches back nearly 300 years.
Scientists say that the first selfie was taken in 1839 and that the first photo was made in 1826 in France.

'Selfie' was declared the Word of the Year 2013, and although we associate this word with smartphones, it is far from a modern phenomenon. The photo taken by Robert Cornelius in 1839 is considered by many to be the first selfie ever.
