Commencement of rehabilitation of border crossing Preševo - "Euromodul" to build all facilities for lodging and work of related services

The first phase of works on reconstruction of border crossing Preševo, towards Macedonia, started yesterday (October 5, 2007).

Funds in amount of 5m EUR for the first A phase were provided by European Agency for Reconstruction (EAR). The plan is that these works last for 14 months. Republic of Serbia provided the funds required for design of complete planning and technical documentation, it provided the land for construction, as well as funds for construction of infrastructure outside the area of border crossing Preševo.

Reconstruction of the border crossing commenced in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, Božidar Đelić, and Minister of Infrastructure, Velimir Ilić.

- The funds are also provided for ten kilometers of highway on Corridor 10, from Preševao to Macedonian border, but we need to wait for Municipality of Preševo to resolve ownership-legal relations on that territory. We have also prepared tenders for construction of these ten kilometers of highway, as well as for railway cloverleaf in Dimitrovgrad, and we wait for them to pass the procedure in the Government - said Ilić.

One of the contractors on border crossing Preševo is company "Euromodul" from Nova Pazova. According to the words of Manager of "Euromodul", Milan Ćopić, the company is engaged in construction of all facilities for accommodation and worl of all related services on the border crossing: toll and control houses, facilities for lodging of border police, customs and veterinarian inspections, post office building and related sanitarian facilities.

Total value of works to be carried out by company "Euromodul" amounts to about 500,000 EUR, and deadline for works to be finished is 13 months. As Milan Ćopić points out, this is one of the most important projects of this successful company that quickly became leader on the market of Serbia in field of construction of facilities of modular type.
