Serbia becomes big building site - EUR 400 million project announced to refurbish 1,100 kilometers of roads

By the year's end, 184 kilometers of roads in Serbia will be completely refurbished and revitalization works will commence on additional 50 kilometers. This is part of the project to refurbish 1,100 kilometers of roads, which is financed by the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank, and the Serbian government. Works have already started on nine stretches, while two more will be under refurbishment as of this spring.

It will take three years to implement this project worth EUR 400 million. The World Bank, the EBRD and the EIB will provide USD 100 million each, whereas the rest will be contributed by the state.

People at Putevi Srbije say that works will be at their peak in the period July-September.
