Jürg Stuker, head of Namics - We came to Serbia because of highly-qualified IT staff

Jürg Stuker, head of Namics, in an interview with eKapija shows that from the very beginning of Belgrade was the main candidate for the next company branch.
The question of production costs is also important , but when we talk about software development cost is only one of many factors affecting decision. The fact is that at markets where we did business at that time we did not have enough qualified engineers , and it was our main motive to expand and come to Serbia.
As far as the technical expertise is concerned, I cannot say anything but that it is at high level! Another great advantage of engineers in Serbia is motivation and a very good knowledge of English.
eKapija: How would you , based on your findings and analyzes , describe the current situation in IT industry in Serbia ?
- Serbia will have a bright future. I have already mentioned that technical expertise of Serbian engineers is excellent and we can see that more and more companies open their representative offices here . Serbia is now at a very exciting crossroads which is not only good for foreign companies to come to Serbia , but it is also great for local economy .
eKapija: What are your plans when it comes to Serbia-based branch office?
- Our first year was very successful and we are planning to grow fast, but stable . What is more important than growth is the integration of all people in our international and interdisciplinary project teams.
eKapija: What kind of profiles are you looking for and what kind of projects will future employees will be working on?
eKapija: In Serbia, there is a lot of talk about the outflow of talented and professional people abroad . Can arrivals of companies like yours stop this, especially because IT technology is quite independent of their geographic location?
- It seems that there is now evidence to support it. Namics offers a truly global experience . People in teams can be in three countries work together as a team. Taking into account that IT engineers in Serbia are among the highest paid ones in the country, and that the cost of living is among the lowest in Europe , Serbian IT professionals have a good chance to earn a lot , but at the same time to keep expenditure at a lower level , which contributes to becoming global players in industry.
Personally, I think arrival of companies such as Namics ", together with further development and strengthening of local IT companies , may be the main reason for not leaving Serbia in search of better working conditions and living
eKapija: Namics a bit unusual for present time , a company owned by employees. Do you intend (or have a need ) to look for foreign investors?
- Our company is owned by a large and growing group of employees who participate equally , called Partners ( Namics Partners) and we definitely believe in the advantage of this type of property. Enterprise development is, in the long run, oriented , and apart from strictly business ones there are also some social goals . Also, we at Namics value entrepreneurial mindset more. We operate in such a way that nothing is left to the case, because behind every project, there is the name of a partner, not company name.
eKapija: What are technologies and areas Namics deals and who are the biggest customers of your company?
- The most important technologies we work with are Java Microsoft.NET and apparently "front end" technology in addition to development of mobile applications for the iOS and Android operating systems. In addition, important products for us are Adobe AEM, Sitecore and SAP Hybris.
eKapija: What are the trends in the world when it comes to software? What will be in focus in the coming period?
-There are five digital trends that no company will be able to avoid in 2016. In the first place, experience of the brand is moving to Omni channel which means that there will be no interruption between communication channels. Customers will fully continuously experience brand - they see on television, explore on tablet, ordered in online shop.
Then, individualism will become norm - advertising and content will be personalized. In 2016 we will be able to see further development of f "Internet of Things" concept.
Apart from that, attention should also be paid to something called Security by Design. Through gradual networking industry, companies are becoming more vulnerable. To minimize the potential risk in the future it will be very important to take into account security aspect, already in the process of developing products and software solutions.
