The story about the departure of Falkensteiner hotel chain from Mount Stara Planina seems to not be finished quite yet. As the daily Politika was unofficially told, one of the owners of the Austrian hotel chain is coming to Belgrade tomorrow, and whether Falkensteiner will continue to operate in this winter resort in Serbia depends on the outcome of his talks with the Serbian government representatives.

Late 2015 saw Austria's Falkensteiner Group terminating a contract on the 15-year management of Stara Planina Hotel that was signed in 2012. Namely, the intention of the Falkensteiner Group was to change this management contract into a hotel lease contract, which was rejected by the Supervisory Board of the Stara Planina public company that decided it would be better if they ran the hotel.

Serbian Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Minister Rasim Ljajic said on that occasion that the management of Stara Planina Hotel caused a serious damage with their decision to manage the hotel by themselves, while Falkensteiner officials stressed that the conversion of that management contract into a lease contract would be negotiated with the Republic of Serbia, voicing their expectation that an agreement would be reached in January 2016.
