Serbia expects EUR 2 billion in foreign investments in 2016 - RSD 13 billion earmarked for incentives
Serbia expects minimum EUR 2 billion in foreign direct investments this year. Last year, exclusive of the last quarter, close to EUR 1.3 billion were invested in our country from abroad. Companies that decide to hire local workers can expect incentives totaling RSD 13 billion this year. Additional RSD 400 million worth of subsidies will be granted for film production in Serbia.
Late last year saw the Government of Serbia adopt a Conclusion approving support for seven investments that will lead to the creation of 6,042 new jobs. These seven investors will spend a total of EUR 532 million on the wages of their future employees over the next three years. Therefore, the Government's incentives for them should not exceed a total of EUR 266 million.
A portion of the RSD 13 billion funds designated for this year's incentives will be spent on some previously agreed projects, such as Air Serbia, Fiat, Robert Bosch in Pecinci and Hutchinson in Ruma, as well as on new investments in Sabac, Novi Sad, Vladicin Han, Doljevac, Arandjelovac, Indjija, Subotica and other municipalities. The Economy Ministry expects these funds to enable the creation of a large number of new jobs.
