European market open for goods and investments from Serbia - Need to train local companies for using EU funds

Businessmen in Serbia is keeping the pace with alignment with the European standards and implementation of directives as well as positive experiences from the practice of the European countries but additional efforts should be invested in the protection of local producers and traders and decrease of administrative barriers in turnover of goods and services, president of the Serbian business club, Privrednik, Miodrag Kostic has estimated today.

At the meeting of members of Privrednik with the head of the Negotiation team for managing negotiations on Serbia’s joining EU, Tanja Miscevic and her team, Kostic outlined European market is open for goods and investments from Serbia and region but that the chance should be more exploited if, for instance, only agriculture production increases two to three times.

When it comes to EU funds, Kostic said it is necessary to train companies from Serbia so that they would develop capacities for using assets from available funds which open with the day we join EU.

GM at Delhaize Srbija and a member of the Managing Board at the Foreign Investors Council, John Kiricis, outlined that the process of adaptation is brining many benefits for Serbia, making it more attractive investment spot. He said that in the adaptation process it is necessary to improve standards of producers and suppliers so that higher export to a million EU market would be generated.
