Slovenia and Macedonia best for business in the region, Serbia ranks last

On the Best Countries for Business list compiled by the U.S. business magazine Forbes, the top-ranked countries in the region are Slovenia and Macedonia, while Serbia ranks worst.

According to media writings in Macedonia, Slovenia ranks 20th, while Macedonia is 39th on the Best Countries for Business list, ahead of Serbia, Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Hungary, and Greece.

Topping the list that was published in late 2015 is Denmark, closely followed by New Zealand, Norway, Ireland and Sweden. Among the top ten countries are also Finland, Canada, Singapore, the Netherlands, and Great Britain.

The Forbes' Best Countries for Business list includes a total of 144 countries with Chad ranking last.

Countries are ranked based on the following 11 criteria: property rights, innovation, tax burden, technology, corruption, personal freedom, monetary freedom, trade freedom, investor protection, red tape, and market performance.
