"Missing millions" of capital's square meters - GAI discovers irregularities in the balance of the City of Belgrade

Governmental auditing institution (DRI) checked documentation of city administration and saw that the balance of the City of Belgrade for 2014 does not register 5.442 flats ,7.863 units of office space , 3.329 other real estate and 10.915 lots. In its report, this institution specifies that value of war participants' flats is not specified correctly as well as that Belgrade does not have proofs that land which is in the books, in the territory of Croatia and Slovenia, is owned by the city.
In the next days, the city administration will reply to the question of whether millions of square meters which are state-owned are "missing" or it is a bureaucracy mistake.
As for remaining eight irregularities, they are mainly taken over money commitments which are not aligned with valid law or missing adequate papers. In some cases, commitments which were taken over were conducted without adequate competition or public procurement. In some stated irregularities, expenditures of city secretariats are higher compared to approved appropriations. Mainly, doubtful sums do not have high nominal values. The greatest deviation from allowed, according to the report of GAI was made by the Secretariat for social protection which, for RSD 5,7 m"crossed" commitment in comparison to approved appropriation.
