Registration of enterprises at one place - new system of registration of business subjects starting January 2008

- Pilot project for registration of business organizations "at one window" will start in January 2008. Starting March 2008, all required procedures related to registration of enterprise will be carried out at one place - said Manager of the Business Registry Agency, Zvonko Obradović.

He said that, starting next year, one would be able to obtain tax identification number and to register workers for health insurance fund and pension and disability insurance fund at one window in the shortened procedure.

- Shortening of the registration procedure for business organizations is part of the Government's business development strategy for period between 2006 and 2012, as well as part of electronic government project - Obradović explained and reminded that registration of companies used to take 52 days three years ago, while the required documents were obtained on several different locations and windows.

He has pointed out that that procedure now lasts for about 18 days, while it takes only 7 days for entrepreneurs to complete that procedure.

Obradović pointed out that the manual for the whole registration procedure could be found on the web site of Business Registry Agency and he added that one of the advantages of registration at one place is prevention of misuse through opening of "phantom companies".

- The electronic database of the Business Registry Agency contains information on more than 600,000 business subjects - said Obradović and pointed out that about 40 business organizations and about 180 enterprises were registered daily.
