Numerous options for cooperation of Serbia and Turkey in infrastructure projects

The minister of construction, traffic and infrastructure of Serbia, Zorana Mihajlovic and the minister of traffic, navigation and communication of Turkey, Binali Jildirim, agreed at the meeting held on Monday, December 28, 2015, that there is potential for more intense cooperation of two countries in infrastructure projects sector.
Ministries discussed options of Turkey to fund projects in Serbia and
participates in development of road
structure, extension of cooperation in air traffic, further liberalization of
all kinds of transport of goods through Serbia on the way to Turkey, the
Ministry of construction announced.
Mihajlovic presented to Jildirim current biggest infrastructure projects in Serbia and said Turkish companies are welcome to invest in Serbia. She suggested that, at the next meeting, two ministries should signMemorandum of understanding which would be an umbrella agreement for cooperation extension.
Jildirim outlined Turkey is ready to provide support to Serbia in funding roads
construction. He added that in the next two years, Turkey will end the project
of construction of the fourth in size bridge in the world, 433 km long, which will
connect Istanbul and Izmir, that they participated in the construction of 26 airports
and that through Turkey, recently, fast train was put into traffic and that
they have been working on the construction of the highway of Bosporus as well as underground passage. Jildrim outlined current infrastructure
projects of this type in Turkey total USD 100 billion.
Mihajlovic and Jildirim met during a two-day visit of Turkish delegation to
Serbia headed by the prime minister, Ahmet Davutoglu.
