“Price of recycling in Serbia is still symbolic”, said the Manager of company "Eko-metal", Vladimir Babić, who invited domestic companies to start regular disposal of electronic and dangerous waste.
He reminded that "Eko-metal" had signed contract on recycling of 500 tons of electronic waste with company "Telekom Srbija" and recycling of 250 tons with companies "Telenor" and "U.S. Steel Serbia", as well as with several smaller companies.
That will make recycling of that kind of waste much bigger than it was the case last year. Taking part in manifestation “Eko-svet” at the Novi Sad Fair, Babić reminded that "Eko-metal" had recycled total of 1,100 tons of computers, mobile phones and other electronic waste in 2006 and that the collecting of waste was still at its beginning in Serbia.
- Due to contracted deals, we have larger capacities and double more waste than we can process – said Babić and specified that daily processing capacities in Vrdnik-based "Eko-metal" amounts to about 10 tons of electronic waste.
