North Carton from Volgograd will soon resume the construction of corrugated cardboard and cardboard packaging factory, which was discontinued due to financial problems of that Russian investor, said Jagodina City Assembly President Dragan Markovic-Palma.

- The investor has provided funds and now resumes construction, so we expect this factory to be finished either in May or June next year - Markovic said at a session of the City Assembly.

The future factory will have a monthly production capacity of 18 million square meters of cardboard.

Construction work first commenced in June 2013, when the foundation stone for this production plant was laid by then Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, Jagodina City Assembly President Dragan Markovic-Palma, and North Carton's owner Vladimir Slobohotov.

As announced on that occasion, the surface area of the manufacturing part of the factory will be 15,000 square meters, the initial investment is EUR 15 million, and the plan is to employ about 200 workers.

The factory, which is about 50% completed, will be equipped with the state-of-the-art equipment made by manufacturers from Italy, Japan and the Netherlands, meeting all European environmental standards.

Visokogradnja from Belgrade is the contractor building this factory.

Designs for the factory were drawn by Aleksandar Mandoshev, who stressed on that occasion that the factory was "big for Europe, and even Russia" which had ten more of the kind.

The new factory is under construction in the industrial zone on Corridor X, where three factories of Italian companies are already in operation.
