Next year will see South Korea's Yura building another factory in Leskovac where over 1,000 people will get a job, company officials confirmed. This investment is valued at few million euro.
At a joint conference with Yura Serbia General Manager Choi Nam Yin on Friday, 11 December 2015, Leskovac Mayor Goran Cvetanovic stated that the year 2016 would start with the construction of new factory across the road from the existing one, on the former land of the ruined company Jugekspres, which the city bought for the investor at an auction.
- At first 700 people will get a job, but that number should later grow to more than 1,000. We are currently working on a study on free alienation of land to Yura, which decided to stay in our city thanks to this. Despite the fact that SIEPA failed to grant the subsidies the South Korean company asked for in order to expand production, a new factory is under construction in Leskovac and locals are getting hired - said Cvetanovic.
As he added, Yura has provided a performance bond for the construction of new factory in Leskovac and the employment of additional workers on top of the existing 1,600 employees, promising that none of these workers will be laid off over the next five years.
- In addition to 1,000 new jobs, we expect Yura to pay us RSD 24 million in income taxes on the salaries of newly employed workers in 2016 - the mayor said and added that South Koreans would continue to hire even after 2018, "provided it is in line with the business policy and business results of this company in both Leskovac and Serbia".
Choi Nam Yin told us he appreciated all the support of the mayor and the city which made the expansion of production possible.
By the way, the City of Leskovac acquired 7.9 hectares of land, 3.9 ha of which will be alloted to Yura that earlier obtained EUR 7,000 from SIEPA for each of the first 1,500 workers hired.
