Greek investors interested in energy sector in Serbia - NIS and EPS as targets

- Greek investors are interested in investments in energy sector and privatization of Petroleum Industry of Serbia and Electric Power Company of Serbia - said President of Serbian-Greek Business Council Simeon Comokos.

Comokos said that there was interest in investments in field of real estates and he added that Greek shipowners were very interested in investments in tourism in Serbia.

According to his words, the task of the Council is to develop economic relations between serbia and Greece and to inform potential Greek investors on investment opportunities in Serbia.

He reminded that Serbia and Greece were negotiating about changes in visa regime and avoidance of double taxation, which will make eeconomic cooperation between the two countries easier.

There are about 300 Greek companies in Serbia and they employ 25,000 workers. More than 2 billion EUR have been invested in Serbia in the past seven years.

According to the data of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, total exchange of goods between Serbia and Greece in 2006 reached about 354m USD, about 153.9m USD of which was value of export, while import amounted to about 200m USD.
