Judging by the latest information from "Zastava", future strategic partner of "Zastaveaautomobili" will, most probably, be "General Motors", that is, American-German company "Opel", which is the daughter company of "General Motors".
According to unofficial information, "Opel" should start to move equipment for production of "astra classic" from its factory in Poland to Kragujevac-based automobile factory either at the end of this week or at the beginning of the next week. Assembling of that model in Kragujevac, according to the contract on cooperation between "Zastava" and "GM", should start in 2008.
The information that the delegation of managers and experts of "Opel" will visit "Zastava" again in October speaks in favor of serious indications for possible strategic partnership between "Zastava" and "GM", that is, "Opel".
Let us remind that "GM" opened modern automobile showroom last week in Kragujevac and it invested about 2m EUR in its equipping.
