Higher excises for alcohol drinks and fuel since 2016

The Government of Serbia delivered to the Assembly changes to the Law on excises for adoption where amount of excise for fuel and spirits is to be increased. Excise for some kinds of drink which did not comprise this fee is to be implemented as well.

Changes to the Law on excises will be considered within the package of financial laws i.e. together with the budget for the next year.

According to current proposals, excises for a liter of lead gasoline will total RSD 52,50 instead of current 50 per liter. A liter of lead-free gasoline will have excise of 54 instead of current 50 dinars.

Of course, excise will be paid for all kinds of beer except from alcohol-free beer which contains up to 0,5% of alcohol regardless of packing.

According to the explanation from the Government, increase of excise for alcohol drinks with the current change to the Law totals two percent. In Nemanjina 11, they outline the next alignment of the amount for alcohol drinks will be in 2017 when the fee will be in line with retail price increase in 2016.
