Knauf Insulation to start producing stone wool by innovative Ekos technology on 1 January 2016

German company Knauf insulation is going to introduce a new technology of production of stone wool in Surdulica on 1st of January 2016. In these ten years since Knauf Insulation successfully privatized the factory in Surduloca, they have come up with an innovative solution, which was preceded by constant investments in the factory and technology totaling more than EUR 25 million.

- This is a kind of reward for the Knauf Insulation Group for our excellent results. We will start using the new method of production in January by applying the Ekos technology to stone mineral wool production, which means that we are focusing on using natural materials only, without the addition of formaldehyde and phenol. It will be the first and only product of the kind in the market of Serbia and the region - said Knauf Insulation Balkans General Manager Tihomir Civkaroski.

He added that the factory was operating at full capacity and that it would be producing more than 45,000 tonnes of stone mineral wool a year, stressing that the introduction of new technology in production would have no effect on the product price.

The factory in Serbia employs 130 people and is engaged in the production of stone mineral wool and its upgrade. The Knauf Insulation Group has patented a revolutionary scientific invention - Ekos technology, which is based on the use of quickly renewable matters instead of oil-based chemicals.
