Fiscal strategy anticipates 1.8% growth of GDP in 2016

According to the Serbian government's forecast in the 2016 Fiscal Strategy with 2017-2018 projections, a real growth of Serbia's gross domestic product (GDP) should be at 1.8% in 2016, 2.2% in 2017, and 3.5% in 2018.
The document published on the website of the Serbian government anticipates a real growth rate of 0.8% in 2015. Based on current market prices, the economy of Serbia is expected to 'weigh' RSD 3,964.4 billion this year. Next year, as forecasted by the Fiscal Strategy, GDP should grow to RSD 4,137.7 billion, while the year 2018 should see it at RSD 4,711.6 billion.

The Government believes that increased personal consumption, which this year dropped 0.5%, would contribute to the projected growth of GDP. Namely, personal consumption is expected to grow 0.2% next year and then to continue to respectively grow one and two percent in 2017 and 2018. The government spending, which this year went down 2.2%, is expected to go up 0.9% next year, down 2.8% in 2017, and up 0.3% in 2018.
