Kragujevac included in project "Termalis" worth 50,000 EUR - promotion and development of Voljavča spa

Having signed the contract with European Agency for Development, Kragujevac joined project "Termalis" worth 50,000 EUR, of which aim is development and promotion of spa tourism.

- Kragujevac has joined the project with the intention to promote and develop Voljavča spa in the vicinity of Stragar - said city expert for project management, Dragan Ranković, at the meeting with the partners from Italian regions of Marka, Abruco and Veneta, as well as from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As it was pointed out, the main activities of "Termalis" project are creation of unique network of all partners who deal with spa tourism, potentials and resources, as well as creation of web site.

Ranković pointed out that the locality of Voljavča did not have infrastructure, so that Kragujevac would compete for new projects, in order to provide additional funds for development of that spa resort.

According to the words of Đorđe Đelić, project coordinator for development of Voljavča spa, the city started voluminous hydrogeological research two years ago in order to determine the real capacities of the source.

- Although the final results of analyses will be available at the end of the year, we already know that there is strong spring with thermomineral water in Voljavča. Its capacity is about 10 liters per second, which is twice more than it is needed for forming of sanatorium. Water temperature is above 24 degrees. The spring was used in the past 100 years, because the inhabitants of Stragari knew for its boons - says Đorđe Đelić.

Kragujevac's local self-government applied for 44m RSD from the National Investment Plan with the project for development of Voljavča spa. If that program is accepted, Municipality will invest 35% of money from the budget, or 15.6m RSD, in organization of this spring.

The plan is that that money be used for construction of roads and required junctions to the spa, installation of electric network, protection from pollution and installation of local water supply system.
