Industrial gas in Serbia pricier than in the EU

Recently published statistics show that gas in H1 2015 cost households in Sweden and Romania EUR 0.113 and EUR 0.031 per kWh, respectively. Gas price in the EU averaged EUR 0.066 per kWh. In this period, households in Serbia were charged EUR 0.047 per kWh of gas, up from EUR 0.043 in H1 2014 and EUR 0.041 in H1 2013.
Of all the members of the European Union, only Romania, Hungary (EUR 0.035 per kWh), Lithuania (EUR 0.042) and Estonia (EUR 0.046) had a cheaper gas for households in the first half of 2015 than Serbia, while households in Croatia were paying the same price as those in Serbia.
When it comes to countries outside the EU, available data show that households in Serbia are paying for gas less than those in Bosnia-Herzegovina, where one kilowatt-hour of gas cost EUR 0.051, but more than in Turkey, where gas was priced at EUR 0.038 per kWh.
As far as medium-size industrial consumers are concerned, gas price in H1 2015 in the EU was the highest in Sweden and Finland and the lowest in Lithuania. The price of industrial gas in the EU averaged EUR 0.037 per kWh in that period.
Gas for industrial consumers in Serbia in the first six months of 2015 cost EUR 0.046 per kWh and was more expensive than in the EU, where the highest rate was paid by industries in Sweden and Finland (EUR 0.045 per kWh). Serbia also had a higher price of industrial gas than Macedonia (EUR 0.036) and Turkey (EUR 0.038), while the only country that charged a higher rate of industrial gas than our country was Bosnia-Herzegovina - EUR 0.053 per kWh. According to the data provided by the European Statistical Office, industrial gas in Serbia cost EUR 0.037 per kWh in H1 2014 and EUR 0.038 per kWh in H1 2013.
