Google maps will work on phone and without internet

With the new application, a user will be able to receive on his mobile phone voice instructions and navigation step by step even when internet connection is poor or when he is not even online.

Google announced iPhone version soon.

Application is useful when a user is in underground garage or a distant park and this is a great news for the ones who travel abroad where roaming costs are high.

In order to use offline navigation, a user must download a part of a map while connected to the internet. Google will then occasionally renew data on changes on roads and facilities.

New version of "google maps" when not online will not be able to provide current traffic information. Offline navigation so far was created only for a car ride, not for pedestrians, bicyclers or public transport.
