As of June 2016 Air Serbia to introduce direct flights to New York - In 2015, company to generate profit higher than EUR 200 m

Air Serbia announced that by June 2016 it will introduce flights to New York which will fly five times a week, GM at Serbian national airline, Dane Kondic, announced at the conference upon a two-year company anniversary.

- By 2016, we will introduce the first long-line flight to New York- Kondic said adding that therefore the first wide-board plane Airbus A330-200, through leasing, will be procured.

He said citizens of Serbia wish for direct flights to USA since it will be the first direct line between Serbia and USA after 24 years. The flights will increase the role of Belgrade-based airport as the leading knot for the Balkans region and according to the latest research, some 200.000 Serbian people live in USA, including New York and Chicago where the largest number of Serbian diaspora in that country.

Dane Kondic said the results if the airline in 2014 “were incredible”. Total number of passengers increased by 11 percentage, from 820.453 to 913.135 and charter brand “Aviolet" transported more than 99.000 passengers. According to Kondic, cargo generated increase of 30% and transported 865 tons of freight.

He reminded that flights now offer catering based on traditional cuisine which generated a true success.

Kondic said that their objective is to become the best employer in Serbia and added that according to LinkedIn they rank among top 5. We have been generating constant growth in line with all parameters and our plan for turnover is on the good track to generate profit second year in a row – he outlines.
