Russian steelworks acquires 46% stake in Perutnina Ptuj - EUR 10 million injected into leading meat company in Slovenia

Russia's steel plant SIJ has become the owner of 46% of shares in Slovenia's leading manufacturer of chicken meat and meat products - Perutnina Ptuj, into which it poured EUR 40 million.

The SIJ office in Slovenia says in a release that the acquisition was done after all necessary permits had been obtained, and the Russian group now has 30 days to make a takeover bid for the remaining stake in Perutnina Ptuj, STA reports.

SIJ, which is majority owned by the Zubicki family from Russia, notes that this long-term investment is part of strategic diversification that was announced early this year.
Perutnina Ptuj reported a revenue of EUR 257 and a business profit of EUR 14.3 million in 2014.
