Heineken acquires majority stake at Pivovarna Lasko

Dutch beer producer, Heineken, announced on Thursday, October 15, 2015 that it acquired a majority stake at Slovenian Pivovarna Lasko for EUR 120 m only a few days after the biggest world brewery AB InBev acquired a rival SABMiller for USD 122 billion.
- We acquired 53,43% of shares from shareholder consortium of Pivovarna Lasko for EUR 119,5 m – Heineken announced, adding that it is planning to acquire the remaining shares of Slovenian brewery in the next three days, France-Presse reports.
Estimated at EUR 35 billion,
Heineken was the third in size world brewery before merge of Belgium-Brazilian
AB InBev and British ABMiller. In August, the company generated profit jump of 81%
to EUR 1,14 billion.
Heineken produces and sells more than 200 kinds of beers and ciders and has almost 70.000 people
worldwide.
Pivovarna Lasko, set up in 1825, is a leading beer producer in Slovenian and in
2014 it generated net profit of EUR 1,9
m.
