"Intel" started construction of factory of microchips in China - investment worth 2.5 billion USD

American IT company "Intel" officially laid cornerstone for its first factory of microchips in China on September 8, 2007.

The factory in city of Dalian, in the northeast of China, in the construction of which 2.5 billion USD will be invested, which is one of the largest foreign single investments in China, will be the first "Intel's" unit for production of silicon motherboards in Asia and the eighth in the world.

Factory "Fab 68" should be opened until year 2010 and it should employ 1,200 people. However, the factory is not going to use up-to-date equipment in production of "chip sets", which connect microprocessors with other computer components, due to American restrictions concerning export of high technology to China.
