Chief of the Sumadija District Damjan Srejic said Wednesday that a Serbian-Chinese company would be established soon to purchase and process cattle in central Serbia.
- The Serbian-Chinese company will be formed at the first next session of the Kragujevac City Assembly - Srejic told Tanjug news agency and stressed that its establishment would signify the beginning of implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation that Kragujevac had recently signed with CMEC (China Machinery Engineering Corporation) from China.
Srejic, who attended the MoC signing ceremony in China, noted that CMEC representatives had showed serious interest in investing in agricultural production in Sumadija.
- The Chinese partner intends to build a slaughterhouse, purchase young beef cattle and lambs and export them to China - Srejic specified and underlined that they were planning to purchase cattle not only from the territory of Kragujevac, but also from other cities and places up to 100 kilometers away from Kragujevac.
He pointed out that the plan of the Chinese company was to produce 50,000 tonnes of meat a year.
The Memorandum of Cooperation with CMEC in late August in China was signed by Kragujevac Mayor Radomir Nikolic, who then said it was the most serious investment in agriculture in the past 20 years.
