- So far we've had several meetings at which it was agreed to build a factory for producing furniture parts for IKEA on the Jelenac site in the vicinity of Zagubica. Property relations are already regulated, and this space is now owned by the municipality, which makes its further management easier - Pavlovic told Beta news agency.
IKEA is interested in making furniture exclusively from beech which is abundant in this municipality.
- We will have one more meeting with the representatives of the Swedish company soon to specify our further steps. The plan is to start building this factory in 2016 - Pavlovic added.
He said that the new plant would employ about 300 workers.
Zagubica is one of the poorest municipalities in Serbia with a constantly decreasing population.
