Tonnies to start investment soon - 80,000 fattened pigs in first stage

Minister of agriculture, Snezana Bogosavljevic-Boskovic has said today she expects the first part of investment of German Tonnies in Serbian agriculture will be implemented soon.

- If everything is as discussed it will be a serious investment and a step forward in development of cattle production, pig breeding and pork meat production in Serbia, the minister said answering to the questions of MPs at the assembly of the Board for Agriculture.

She outlines she expects the investment to be implemented in agreement with the Government of Serbia.

The plan is, as she said, that business with Tonnies in the first stage is implemented in five modules, with cattle breeding of 2,500 pigs which is some 80,000 fattened animals. 15 modules more should be implemented later and they include the plant of cattle food and slaughter houses.

Bogosavljevic-Boskovic outlined that local farmers will be able to cooperate with German giant and that thus they will provide safe placement of their products.
