Chinese company CMEC invests in meat industry in Sumadija

The City Council of Kragujevac has given Mayor Radomir Nikolic the green light to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Kragujevac and China Machinery Engineering Corporation from China. The MoU will be signed within the next few days in China, it was announced on the official city website.

- This is the most serious investment in agriculture in central Serbia in the past 20 years or so - said Mayor Radomir Nikolic. - The Chinese partner is interested in co-financing this serious investment with the city, which in few years should result in cattle breeders in Sumadija selling everything they can produce. This partner from China has no upper limit for the investment, they want to build a farm and enter into partnership with cattle farmers. Everything they produce will be purchased by a company to be established in partnership with the Chinese company.

- The plan is to build a slaughterhouse and a cold storage plant, as well as to generate electricity and produce organic fertilizer in line with the latest technology and environmental standards in the world. This is probably a turning point in the development of agriculture in Sumadija - Mayor Nikolic assessed and added that an area with a radius of 50 kilometers would be covered.

- Implementation of this project will most likeley commence in 2016, and we are also considering lending money to farmers for additional infrastructure equipping and purchase of new heads of cattle - Nikolic announced.
