Telekom Slovenije invited to second round of Telekom Srbija privatization process

Telekom Slovenije is invited to partake in the second round of the Telekom Srbija privatization process, and it will most likely submit a binding offer as well, Rudolf Skobe, the director of the Slovenian national telecom operator, said Thursday at a press conference at which he presented business results of the company in the first six months of this year.

- We are invited to the second round of the Telekom Srbija privatization process as one of the prospective buyers, and it would be a shame to miss this opportunity - Skobe said and added it was necessary to be active in that process, which will be agreed upon between the management of Telekom Slovenia and the state as a majority owner.

- We would probably do this in cooperation with a private partner and try to carry out regional consolidation as this is one of the last opportunities for such actions - said Skobe.

He added that the tender documentation was likely to be acquired within the next two weeks, stressing that they would probably submit a binding offer as well, but only if they're backed by the state as a majority owner.

Media in Slovenia mention Telekom Austria as a possible partner of Telekom Slovenije in the acquisition of Telekom Srbija if the Austrian telecom firm decided to recapitalize the Slovenian telecom operator.
