EU promises EUR 1 billion for roads in Western Balkans by 2020

The European Commission is ready to provide EUR 1 billion by 2020 for the construction of regional transportation network with corridors in the Western Balkans, said the foreign ministers of Germany and Austria, Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Sebastian Kurz, respectively.
They stressed in a joint statement to the daily Danas that promised funds would enable Western Balkan countries to connect more closely with each other and with the European Union.
In a text about the Western Balkans Summit that is held in Vienna, these two ministers assessed that, despite substantial improvements, stability in the Wesstern Balkans was still fragile and greatly dependent upon the European Union.
