Jagodina-based Industrija kablova will be privatized in units, the Agency for privatization decided and tender is expected very soon, the president of the company Trade Union, Oliver Jovanovski said.

Privatization will be done in five units, in plants in the towns in Pomoravlje region, two of them in Jagodina and one in Despotovac, Cuprij and Rekovac, Jovanovski specified in his interview with journalists.

Industrija kablova, even if in restructuring, has been generating very good production and export results and services debts to the state and employees whose number is among the highest one when it comes to companies in Serbia.

Even with all difficulties at local and foreign market, Kablovi annually produce between 8.000 and 10.000 tons of cables with annual export of EUR 20 m.

When it comes to export, Kablovi rank among 10 biggest exporters of Sumadija and Pomoravlje, the EU Project Manager of the Regional chamber of Commerce, Ruzica Stancic, said for Tanjug.

Especially good export result has been generated at the Russian market in cables for oil industry which is there very profitable and goods in demand.

Jagodina-based Industrija kablova started regular production 60 years ago.

For years one of the head people at Kablovi, Radomir Kosanin, outlines the plant was built “without bringing foreign investors and without incentives for new hires".

- There were no agencies or funds as today. They were built by youth brigades who were coming from all parts of Serbia. The most capable experts in metallurgy, mechanical engineering and technology which the country had at that time were appointed managerial positions– Kosanin reminds.

He mentioned that "record production of 113.760 tons with the highest export value of USD 139,9 m was generated in 1982 and that in late 1986 the plant had 9.665 employees which is the highest number since its set up”.
