Russian MTS interested in acquisition of Telekom Srbija

The biggest Russian operator of mobile telephony, MTS , is interested in potential participation in privatization of Serbian telecommunication company Telekom Srbija, executive manager and president of the managing board at MTS, Andrej Dubovskov said, Tass agency reported.


- As for Telekom Srbija, company takeover should be interesting for us but we have to see in details whether it would be profitable for us and of course our interst depends on the amount as well we would spend on that – Dubovskov said.

Vienna daily newspaper "Presse" reminded that Serbia defined that 58,11% at Telekom Srbija will not be sold below EUR 1,1 billion and that the interested ones comprise Deutsche Telekom, Telekom Slovenija, a large Russian operator MTS as well as a number of funds.

Owner of AFK Sistem, majority owner of MTS, Vladimir Jevtushenkov, said in 2013 that AFK is considering participation in privatization of Serbian Telekom.

MTS is a leading group in telecommunications in Russia which, on March 31, 2015, had more than 100 million mobile telephony subscribers in Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Turkmenistan and Belarus.

As of July 2000, the company is listed at the New York and as of November 2003 at the Moscow stock market.
